This drug has the potential to affect your thinking and reactions. If you drive or do anything else that requires you to be aware, be cautious.

If you experience tremors, confusion, seizures, or restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck, stop taking this prescription and contact your doctor right once.

Certain hydroxyzine adverse effects can be exacerbated by drinking alcohol.

  • If you are allergic to hydroxyzine, or if you have any of the following conditions, you should not use it:
  • You have QT prolongation syndrome;
  • cetirizine (Zyrtec) or levocetirizine (Xyzal) allergies; or
  • Hydroxyzine has the potential to harm an unborn child or cause birth abnormalities. If you're pregnant, consult your doctor before using hydroxyzine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions to ensure that this medicine is safe for you:
  • digestive tract obstruction (stomach or intestines);
  • urination issues can as bladder blockage or other urination issues;
  • glaucoma;
  • sluggish heartbeats, heart disease
  • long QT syndrome in oneself or a family member;
  • an electrolyte imbalance (for example, high or low potassium levels in the blood);
  • if you've had a heart attack recently
It's unclear whether hydroxyzine gets into breast milk or whether it could affect a nursing baby. Before breastfeeding while using this medication, see your doctor.

Do not give this medication to a youngster without first consulting a doctor.

What is the best way to take hydroxyzine?
Follow your doctor's instructions for taking hydroxyzine. Follow your prescription's instructions to the letter. Your doctor may adjust your dose from time to time. Use this medicine only as directed. Do not use it in bigger or lesser amounts or for longer than recommended.
Just before you measure a dose, give the oral suspension (liquid) a good shake. Use the dosing syringe provided, or a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup to measure liquid medicine. Ask your pharmacist for a dose-measuring equipment if you don't already have one.

Hydroxyzine should only be used for a limited period of time.

This medication should not be used for more than four months. If your anxiety symptoms do not improve or worsen, consult your doctor.

Store away from moisture and heat at room temperature.
